Claire Hodgson from Consett Fire Cadets was successful in gaining a place on this tough challenge in the Appalachian Mountains in North America Having tasted adventure in 2016 by being part of the Ocean Youth Trust sailing residential on board the James Cook vessel, Claire enjoyed the experience so much she wanted to test herself with a new challenge.
So following a really hard round of selection interviews and team challenges, she finally made up the team of a select few from across the country to book a place to America. With others she walked along parts of the Appalachian Trial, camping overnight as they went and also took part in a community project to support the local environment.
It was a tremendous experience and Claire was a credit to this association and has brought back memories that will last a lifetime.
